A new twist in the story of the indicted Russian operative reveals she was actually meeting with Obama Treasury officials while she was allegedly spying on the NRA and conservatives.
Maria Butina was indicted last week on charges of being a covert Russian agent as she infiltrated the National Rifle Association and the Conservative Political Action Conference. Investigative journalist John Solomon reported that the FBI allegedly knew about her operations but did not warn anyone.
A new report now reveals another stunning development.
According to Reuters:
Maria Butina, accused in the United States of spying for Russia, had wider high-level contacts in Washington than previously known, taking part in 2015 meetings between a visiting Russian official and two senior U.S. officials.
The meetings, disclosed by several people familiar with the sessions and a report prepared by a Washington think tank that arranged them, involved Stanley Fischer, then Federal Reserve vice chairman, and Nathan Sheets, then Treasury undersecretary for international affairs.
Butina traveled to the United States in April 2015 with Alexander Torshin, then the Russian Central Bank deputy governor, and they took part in separate meetings with Fischer and Sheets to discuss U.S.-Russian economic relations during Democratic former President Barack Obama’s administration.
The meetings had not been previously reported on but seem to show that Butina was seeking” a wider circle of high-powered connections” than was known before, according to Reuters.

When asked about Butina’s meetings with Treasury and Federal Reserve officials, her attorney, Robert Driscoll, did not have any details.
The blatant double standard was slammed on Twitter as users called out the hypocrisy of the left.

Yup and FBI/DOJ never said a word when trying to get warrant for her arrest either, missing any mention of it in charging docs

With the usual double standards in play, there’s nothing wrong with her meeting with Obama Admin officials, amirite?

Why will none of the stories discuss the time frame of these events and point out who was in charge of the intelligence apparatus during her time in Washington?

but but but a Democrat was President, then?

Strange how MSM always fails to mention the “O” word in stories like this. #blindedbythelight

Every time crooked cop turned crooked special counsel Mueller points at someone Russian it leads back to the Obama administration, imagine that.

And what did Barack do about it?
