Occupy ICE protesters in Portland, Oregon, rolled out a makeshift guillotine and beheaded a piñata of President Donald Trump Tuesday.
Several people yelled, “Off with his head!” while the Trump piñata was placed under the knife by some protesters wearing scarves on their necks and covering their mouths. A sign in front of the guillotine read, “Brick by brick, wall by wall, we will make the borders fall.”
As the piñata was sliced, candy fell out and people screamed with joy. One protester threw the president’s head toward the crowd, according to video footage posted by Abolish I.C.E PDX.
A protester retrieved Trump’s head from the crowd and placed it under the guillotine for a second time as another person said, “That’s perfect.”
The incident is part of ongoing acts to disparage the president. England protesters flew a Trump baby balloon on July 13 because they believed he was a “racist demagogue who is a danger to women, immigrants and minorities,” according to a description by a Crowdfunder page.
The Occupy ICE movement started in Portland on June 19 to protest Trump’s family separation of illegal immigrants under a zero tolerance policy. The movement has persisted for close to a month, according to KGW8.
Federal Protective Service Director of Communications and Engagement Robert Sperling told The Daily Caller News Foundation 18 people have been arrested to date in Portland since the movement started.
