Fox News host Tucker Carlson questioned Democrat congressman Adam Smith after he flippantly accused President Trump of committing “treason,” and the liberal lawmaker crumbled like a house of cards.
Carlson asked Smith why doubting the conclusions of the U.S. intelligence community is now considered a crime by Democrats. When pressed, the congressman back-pedaled. After all, millions of Americans doubt the integrity of the upper ranks of the intel community amid the Peter Strzok circus.
Carlson asked: “So doubting the conclusions of the intel community is now treason? To have opinions you don’t like and to ask questions about the imprecise, never-fully-explained conclusions of the powerful American [intel community is a crime]?
Smith stammered: “The remedy for a crime by the president is impeachment.”
In a series of incoherent half-sentences, Smith walked back his initial accusations against Trump, and said what Russia did (meddling in the U.S. election) was a crime. Keep in mind that the United States meddles in the elections of its adversaries, and even its allies.
Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu was furious when former president Barack Obama spent taxpayer money to oust Netanyahu in 2015.
Smith said it’s not treason to question the intel community, but it’s wrong for President Trump to “side with” Russian president Vladimir Putin over the U.S. intelligence community.
For the record, President Trump didn’t “side with” Putin; he said Putin had forcefully denied the allegations.

Tucker followed up by asking Congressman Smith to spell out exactly what crime Trump had committed against his country at his joint press conference in Helsinki.
“What is the crime the president committed in doubting the indictment?” Carlson asked. “These are indictments [of Russian nationals], this isn’t a product of a jury trial. By definition, they aren’t proven proven. But you’re saying if you doubt charges brought by the government against somebody, you’re a criminal.”
Smith retorted: “I’m saying if you attempt to obstruct the investigation.”
Meanwhile, Special counsel Robert Mueller has produced no evidence of Trump-Russia collusion or obstruction of justice.
Tucker asked: “How is he attempting to obstruct the investigation?”
Smith quipped: “He’s siding with a foreign power.”
Tucker asked: “So having the same opinion as Vladimir Putin is a crime?”
The absurd circular exchange continued, which underscored that Congressman Adam Smith does not really believe that President Trump committed treason. He’s merely regurgitating the Democratic talking point as part of their herd-mentality take-down of a duly elected president.
If Trump doubting or disagreeing with the CIA or FBI (whose upper ranks are stacked with Trump-hating Obama holdovers) is treason, then what is it when a sitting U.S. congressman trashes his own president on foreign soil?
That’s exactly what Senator John McCain did on numerous occasions. In September 2017, John McCain blasted President Trump during an economic forum in Italy.

Three months earlier, in June 2017, the six-term senator told the U.K.’s Guardian newspaper that American leadership was better under Obama than under President Trump.

In June 2018, McCain sided with Canada and China after they complained about U.S. tariffs on their goods even though they refuse to repeal tariffs on American goods entering their countries.

Wasn’t it treason when former Secretary of State John Kerry tried to undermine President Trump by colluding with Iran (an enemy of the United States and the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism) to save the Iran nuclear deal?

Democrats malign, defame, and bleat lies about President Trump more viciously than any enemy of the United States.
But they accuse Trump of being a traitor because he stands up for the humble American taxpayer against all enemies, foreign and domestic.
