A gunman shot and critically wounded two contract workers at an elementary school in suburban Kansas City on Tuesday, Overland Police public information officer John Lacy told CBS News.
The two men were hired by the school on a team of at least six workers to renovate Sunrise Point Elementary School playground in Overland Park, and the suspected shooter is believed to be one of the men who was working with them, according to reports by CBS affiliate KCTV.
The suspect shot the two workers at the school and took off, attempting to carjack a vehicle at a nearby car wash unsuccessfully. Although he did fire his gun, no one was injured.
He then carjacked a Black 2011 Denali with KS Tag 208BAB. The suspect is still at large and police are looking for him.
