Roseanne rebounds: She’s got a really good television offer cooking, among plenty of options

Amid reports that ABC is going ahead with a spinoff of “Roseanne” without the hit show’s namesake, Roseanne Barr, the embattled comedian said in a recent interview that she has received offers to return to television.

Barr told friend Rabbi Shmuley Boteach in a new podcast she is “very excited” over an offer that she is now considering.

“Inside every bad thing is a good thing waiting to happen,” Barr told Rabbi Boteach. “And I feel very excited because I have already been offered so many things and I almost already accepted one really good offer to go back on TV and I might do it.”

“But we’ll see,” she added.

Barr came under fire for an ill-advised tweet calling Obama royalty Valerie Jarrett the offspring of the Muslim Brotherhood and “Planet of the Apes,” with ABC dropping what was then the network’s highest-rated show, despite the actress apologizing.

In her first interview since ABC cancelled the show, Barr expressed how upsetting the whole thing has been, breaking down in tears while saying how she “regretted” all that happened.

“I lost everything and I regretted it before I lost everything,” Barr explained. “It’s really hard to say this but, I didn’t mean what they think I meant. And that’s what’s so painful. But I have to face that it hurt people.”

Barr said in the new interview that she didn’t ask for a payout to sign away the rights to her namesake show in the spinoff called “The Conners” which will feature much of the original cast.

“I thought signing off of my own life’s work and asking for nothing in return I thought that was a penance,” she told Boteach. “Sometimes you ask people what do you think should be done to you knowing what you’ve done wrong and it seems people always know what should be done to them.”

She also referenced her Jewish faith in saying this was the right decision.

“I just knew that was the right thing and I want to do the right thing because I’ve lived my life, most part of it, to do the right thing for all people, not just Jews,” Barr said.
