Actress Susan Sarandon’s arrest for protesting President Trump’s immigration policy was not actually appreciated by her liberal cohorts.
.@SusanSarandon has joined the #WOMENDISOBEY blockade of the DOJ. Next up, we march to Congress to #AbolishICE and #EndFamilyDetention.

In fact, the actress was raked over the coals for even participating in the staged sit-in inside the Hart Senate Office Building on Thursday.

Sarandon was one of about 600 female protesters arrested at the demonstration which was to protest the administration’s family separation policy and demand an end to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency.

— Irene (@irene_koo) June 28, 2018
Powerful, beautiful action with hundreds of women saying we demand the reunification of families separated by immoral ICE policy. This is what Democracy looks like. #WomenDisobey https://t.co/NDHDISPTPD pic.twitter.com/szBOJ43D6y
— Susan Sarandon (@SusanSarandon) June 28, 2018
She tweeted about the march earlier, urging others to join the cause.
Abolishing ICE & family separations/detention is bigger than either of us. If ur in D.C., please come out & march. #WomenDisobey https://t.co/BUupSCJ6Rv
— Susan Sarandon (@SusanSarandon) June 28, 2018
The 71-year-old actress then tweeted that she had been arrested, which was confirmed by the police confirmed, according to the Independent.
Arrested. Stay strong. Keep fighting. #WomenDisobey

Do the cops now offer one self-righteous tweet in addition to the one phone call? https://t.co/v37NwQ3s3p

But Sarandon’s activism got her no heroic recognition, instead earning her a load of scathing rebukes from liberals who are still burned up about her refusing to vote for Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election. She came under fire for voting for Green Party candidate Jill Stein instead of Clinton, and suggesting others do the same.
I feel a series of rage tweets coming on. Trying to control myself. Must…not..@..Susan..Sarandon
— Amber Tamblyn (@ambertamblyn) June 27, 2018
You are ridiculous. Still think Trump and Hillary are the same?
— Sophie G (@gronnlight) June 28, 2018
Oh eff off. Can they keep you? I’m sure they’ll let you out for Prada fashion shows you cosplay activist. You’re part of why we’re in this mess .
— Portia McGonagal (@PortiaMcGonagal) June 28, 2018
“I did think she was very, very dangerous,” Sarandon said of Clinton in an interview after the elction. “We would still be fracking, we would be at war [if she was president]. It wouldn’t be much smoother. Look what happened under Obama that we didn’t notice.”
Remember when you said Hillary was as bad as Trump? Or that electing Trump would be good bc it would bring about “the revolution” more quickly? We warned you Trump would attack immigrants but you used your privilege to say “Vote Stein!” With friends like you, who needs enemies.
— ?❄ GoingBrogue ❄? (@Going_Brogue) June 29, 2018
I really don’t care, do you?
If you had voted for Hillary, you wouldn’t be incarcerated right now. Isn’t it ironic? Yeah, I really do think.— ???Keith Will Wynne. Esq.??? (@KeithWillWynne) June 29, 2018
.Hypocrisy at work here.
Still feel that Clinton would have been worse for this country than the man in office today?
Take some responsibility.
— christian (@IAmOnly1ButIAm1) June 29, 2018
Naturally the left blames her taking away votes from the Democrat, thereby ensuring Trump’s victory. Sarandon was also slammed for participating Thursday while not doing enough to prevent Trump’s presidency and not being vocal about every issue.
So are the differences between Hillary and Trump starting to come to light for you?
— RobHalpin Ⓥ (@Niplahr) June 29, 2018
@SusanSarandon i used to love your movies. Why didn’t you listen to your mentor @SenSanders and support @HillaryClinton ? I can’t forgive you for this!!!
— Batsheva Raviv (@rbatsheva) June 29, 2018
No one’s laying the blame of Hillary’s loss solely on Susan Sarandon. But she didn’t help, she most certainly hurt, and she made same mistake in 2000. It doesn’t help that she’s self-righteous and selfish. She just likes the feeling of being an activist.

Dear media – I really don’t want to see another headline or picture about Susan Sarandon being arrested yesterday. Show me some of the other 600 women, who didn’t tell people not to vote for HRC.

Apparently the actress was aware of the backlash and had responded to some on Twitter.
FFS. If Sarandon is in then I am absolutely out. WTH are you thinking @womensmarch? You might as well invite Jill Stein too.
— Ellen H Resists (@EH_ontime) June 28, 2018
Hi Ellen, hope you stay “in” regardless of whether or not I’m here. Need all our voices to demand an end to family detention & separation and ICE. Bigger than me or u. #WomenDisobey https://t.co/LS23kyBpIv
— Susan Sarandon (@SusanSarandon) June 28, 2018
Though there was no shortage of social media attacks, some defended Sarandon.
The vitriol against my friend @SusanSarandon is disgusting.Susan has been on ground for decades. She has supported countless movements. While you are sitting tweeting garbage at her where were you today when over 1000 women got arrested to #endfamilyseperation ? Susan was with us pic.twitter.com/dI9O8BVKys
— Rosa A. Clemente (@rosaclemente) June 28, 2018
Petty & privileged @DebraMessing continues her attack on @SusanSarandon. While Susan took to the street yesterday to protest Trump & do something actionable, Deb sat in her $5.4 million dollar full floor apt RTing cold takes from donut twitter. #Priorities#FridayFeeling #Resist pic.twitter.com/XTQRol7iMa

Others just grabbed the popcorn and watched the libs eat their own.
Welcome to twitter. Every celebrity you ever liked is an idiot and Dems still think they lost because of Susan Sarandon. Please use the vomit bag under the seat
— beth, an alien™ (@bourgeoisalien) June 28, 2018
I’m certain that this sudden rise of attacks against Susan Sarandon is a coordinated, orchestrated move by either the DNC itself or some other shady organization. It’s absolutely pathetic to see a Party trying to blame the biggest election disaster in history on a movie star.
— Amir (@AmirAminiMD) June 28, 2018
Please respond to this tweet with all the terrible things Susan Sarandon has done to you. I’ll start.
Susan Sarandon stole my lunch money and put me in a locker
Susan Sarandon made me watch Big Bang Theory
Susan Sarandon spoke truth to power and forced me to think, now I’m mad— beth, an alien™ (@bourgeoisalien) June 28, 2018
Cannibal twitter is the best twitter.
— Sensor3 (@VPNavy) June 29, 2018
If you think for a moment that Susan Sarandon is any less of a narcissistic megalomaniac than trump, you haven’t been paying attention.
— Jerry (@js_edit) June 29, 2018
Can’t wait for the Democrats to happily vote in Trump’s Supreme Court nominee then turn around and blame Susan Sarandon, Jill Stein and leftists for appointing him
