‘Victim’ destroys two lives with elaborate rape story that turned out to be a big, fat lie

A woman who insisted for over a year that two college students raped her, pleaded guilty to false charges Tuesday when she admitted she had lied about the alleged assault.

Nineteen year-old Nikki Yovino told authorities in October 2016 that she’d been raped by two Sacred Heart University football players, but took it all back in court Tuesday when she pleaded guilty to false reporting and interfering with the police.

Yovino insisted that the players had raped her inside of a bathroom at an off-campus house party, but the players maintained that the sex was consensual. Their lawyer, Frank Riccio II, said that his clients are now considering suing Yovino. “While this disposition does not replace that which the boys lost, it does send a powerful message that lying about a serious incident carries serious consequences,” Riccio said, according to the New York Post.

“They’re no longer in school,” Riccio said, explaining that Yovino’s lie seriously affected the future of the two young men. “The loss of their education and the college experience has certainly affected them greatly. And this is all because of a very serious lie.”

Bridgeport police charged Yovino with false reporting in February 2017 and she defended her lie until relenting in court Tuesday.

Yovino will now serve one year in prison.
