A night club in Denver offered a man who was shot in the leg during an event early Saturday morning a lifetime supply of complimentary drinks.
Off-duty FBI agent Chase Bishop, 29, was attending one of Mile High Spirits Distillery and Tasting Bar’s “DJ-Fueled Weekend Dance Parties” where he was recorded dancing in a now viral video. After completing a backflip, Bishop’s firearm fell out of his waistband holster and as he picked it up from the ground, the firearm discharged, hitting an adult male in the leg.
Denver Police said the incidence appears to be accidental.
Following the discharge, the club was immediately evacuated and police responded to Mile High Spirits at roughly 12:45 a.m. The Denver Police Department is currently investigating the incident and any charges will be determined by the Denver District Attorney’s Office, according to Fox-affiliate KDVR.
Mile High Spirits released a statement on Facebook On Tuesday noting that club has never previously experienced a shooting and expressing shock that the first to occur was done by an FBI Agent. It further claimed that the club was not aware that the FBI agent had been carrying a loaded firearm, a violation of the establishment’s rules.
The statement concluded that Mile High Spirits is “praying for the victim’s quick recovery, and he’s welcome at Mile High Spirits to enjoy complimentary drinks forever.”
Denver Police issued a press release stating the victim “appears to have non-life threatening injuries.”
