Donald Trump Jr. had a pressing warning for Americans in the wake of an arrest in England of an independent journalist.
UK protesters poured into England’s Downing Street this weekend demanding the release of Tommy Robinson, who was arrested for covering a story on the trial of a child grooming gang. Robinson was transported to jail without a trial and the government banned press coverage of the 35-year old journalist’s status.
Townhall columnist Kurt Schlichter noted how the UK’s Orwellian actions could be echoed here in the U.S.
Man arrested and imprisoned in England for reporting on a court case.
Reporting on his case is also illegal.
The US media doesn’t care.
Why?
Because they support it, because they disapprove of his politics.
They want the same thing here.

Trump Jr. reacted to Schlichter’s tweet with a warning not to follow in the footsteps of America’s mother country.
Reason #1776 for the original #brexit. Don’t let America follow in those footsteps. https://t.co/6QLejT61i4

Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Lennon, was arrested Friday while livestreaming a report on the trial of members of an alleged child grooming gang.

The 35-year-old activist and former head of the English Defense League, has long been active against Islam and Islamic migration. Robinson is now serving a prior 13 month suspended sentence for contempt of court after trying to film accused Muslims outside of a court last year.
News of his arrest and the subsequent ban on coverage sent his supporters into action.
Wow, massive crowd protesting the arrest of journalist Tommy Robinson.

England seemed to be stepping into police state territory as a gag order was issued to block media coverage, citing the need to avoid risking the case with prejudice.  Journalists Mike Cernovich and Nick Monroe broke down the alarming scrubbing of Robinson’s articles.

Many on social media slammed the double standards, the bias and the overreach of Robinson’s treatment, echoing Trump Jr. in warning where the actions could lead.
I’m not a supporter of Tommy Robinson, but I am a supporters of anybodies rights to free speech and protest, again I say he was doing nothing illegal! Merely pointing out the hidden cases of paedophile gangs for political reasons to a public kept in the dark. His arrest is wrong.

What happened to Tommy Robinson is absolutely disgusting. I guess I am lucky to live in a country where even the KKK can still protest freely. Get your shit together Britain!

If Tommy Robinson`s arrest was legit, why the blanket media ban on reporting it? Why has Twitter been forced to hide his name trending? Why no mention of the protest at Downing Street? Something stinks here!

Hey UK.
It’s not about whether you agree with or like Tommy Robinson.

For all the Americans who angrily cower at the presentation of opinions different from theirs, simply imagine what it would be like if it was deemed illegal to express yourself- or report on what you feel is significant.
Now take a look at present-day Britain.#FreeTommy
