GOP rep seriously blasts NY Jets owner for offering to pay fine for players who kneel. He wasn't playing.

New York Republican Rep. Pete King blasted The New York Jets owner for offering to pay fines for players who kneel during the national anthem in a Saturday tweet.

King called Jets owner and chairman Christopher Johnson’s move “disgraceful” and asked if Johnson would support every player’s protest, even if it was a Nazi salute or a racist “spew.” King’s criticism comes after Johnson said on Wednesday that he’s willing to pay the fines for every player on his roster who kneels, sits or otherwise protests the anthem before kickoff.

Disgraceful that @nyjets owner will pay fines for players who kneel for National Anthem. Encouraging a movement premised on lies vs. police. Would he support all player protests? Would he pay fines of players giving Nazi salutes or spew racism? It’s time to say goodbye to Jets!

The New York congressman said it is time to “say goodbye to Jets!”

Players in the NFL have reportedly already started brainstorming other ways to protest the National Anthem, “just to spite the NFL,” according to Sports Illustrated’s Robert Klemko.
