IL prof urges Trump to ‘unleash those troops’ on Chicago as violence escalates under ‘impotent mayor’

An Illinois professor is calling on President Donald Trump to “send in the troops” to Chicago to combat the “horrific” violence that is plaguing the city.

DePaul University professor, Jason Hill, told Fox News’ Martha MacCallum on “The Story” on Thursday that Trump should exercise his presidential authority and send the National Guard, Navy or Marines to Chicago.

Hill cited examples of past presidents like Eisenhower who sent National Guard troops to enforce integration of schools and George H.W. Bush who did the same in Los Angeles following riots that broke out after the Rodney King verdict.

Slamming Rahm Emanuel as an “impotent mayor” in the face of the violence, Hill said the Democrat’s “complacency is symptomatic” of what is happening in Chicago, which he finds “unspeakable” and “uncivilized.”

“There’a a systematic absence of law and order running amok in this country,” Hill said, pointing out that the conversation on respecting the rule of law is one “the far left is not willing to have.”

Chicago saw its most most violent week of the year earlier this month with nine people killed and 76 wounded in just seven days, according to the Chicago Tribune.

In an op-ed for The Hill, the philosophy professor addressed the president about the need to intervene.

“President Trump, during your presidential campaign you made a promise to send federal troops to drain the swamp in Washington, D.C., and also one festering with feral thugs and gang-bangers who are committing genocide among black Americans right in the great city of Chicago,” Hill wrote.

“Wannabe-commandos terrorize neighborhoods, challenging not only local authorities but the very authority you exercise as president of this great nation. The potency of your own presidency is ridiculed when thugs and barbaric criminals take it upon themselves to establish lawless fiefdoms, usurping the law and order on which this republic was built and upon which its continued existence depends, as they kill innocent lives,” Hill continued.

Hill described himself in the piece as “a black college professor who came to this country as a legal immigrant from Jamaica 32 years ago with $120 in my pocket.” After years of working, Hill put himself through college and earned a scholarship to graduate with his doctorate.

“Not once did I believe that the state or America owed me anything except a chance to earn a living and pay my way as I journeyed through life,” he wrote as he opined about Chicago being “under siege” and  “bleeding to death by thousands of tiny scratches.”

“One cannot reason with nihilists; one must eradicate the nihilists to protect the victims and inoculate the innocent,” Hill explained. “Unleash those troops not to instill fear, but as the insignia of urban civility and order. Do it not just to save black and Hispanic lives. Do it because it is the moral thing to do. All lives matter. You are in a position to save them.”
