Leakers in the Trump White House admit that they leak to the Trump-hating media out of a petty desire to settle personal scores and to embarrass the administration.
That’s what at least five leakers told Axios in the wake of Sarah Sanders’ criticism of unprofessional, sneaky WH staffers who go running to the press after every meeting.
“To be honest, it probably falls into a couple of categories,” one White House official told Axios. “The first is personal vendettas. And two, is to make sure there’s an accurate record of what’s really going on in the White House.”
A second WH official remarked: “You have to realize that working here is kind of like being in a never-ending ‘Mexican Standoff.’ Everyone has guns (leaks) pointed at each other and it’s only a matter of time before someone shoots. There’s rarely a peaceful conclusion, so you might as well shoot first.”
That official said oftentimes staffers leak stuff to exact revenge against a colleague they want to embarrass. “Leaking is information warfare,” the leaker said. “It’s strategic and tactical — strategic to drive narrative, tactical to settle scores.”
One leaker said he/she tries to implicate other White House staffers by mimicking their speech patterns. “To cover my tracks, I usually pay attention to other staffers’ idioms and use that in my background quotes,” the leaker confessed. “That throws the scent off me.”
With all these childish shenanigans, it’s a wonder President Trump has accomplished as much as he has in just one year in office.
The story about the White House tattle-tales came just days after someone leaked a callous joke that White House aide Kelly Sadler had made about Senator John McCain, who opposes the confirmation of Gina Haspel, President Trump’s nominee for CIA director.
As BizPac Review has reported, Sadler said McCain’s obstruction won’t stop Haspel’s confirmation because “he dying anyway.” Sadler has since been viciously attacked and trolled online over her tasteless (but not untrue) remarks.
White House press secretary Sarah Sanders expressed disappointment at the unending barrage of petty leaks from internal WH meetings that are designed solely to embarrass a colleague. MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace responded to Sanders by saying she deserves to be violently choked.
While Nicolle Wallace and John McCain’s daughter Meghan McCain suggested that Kelly Sadler should be fired for her joke, liberals aren’t demanding that Wallace be fired for inciting violence against Sarah Sanders. Let that sink in.
