Bongino says there’s more to report Comey’s FBI had mole in Trump campaign: ‘sickest spy novel I ever read’

Former Secret Service Agent Dan Bongino thinks reports that the FBI may have had a “mole” embedded in the Trump campaign are like reading a “spy novel.”

Bongino joined Fox News’ Tucker Carlson on Friday to discuss the bombshell report published in the Wall Street Journal that revealed the Justice Department under former President Obama had a spy working inside the Trump presidential campaign in 2016.

Carlson noted that the idea of a spy planted by the federal government was “so shocking” and, if it happened, would constitute “gross misconduct.”

For the “sake of the Constitutional Republic, you pray this story isn’t true,” Bongino reacted, adding that the very possibility that the story is true means that Americans’ “God-given rights [can be] shredded.”

“A human intelligence asset may have been inserted in your political rival’s campaign. How this isn’t front-page news on every newspaper across the globe is stunning,” he said.

The former New York City police officer noted that the idea that the FBI under then-Director James Comey’s tenure could act that way is “like the sickest spy novel I ever read — except it happened.”

Bongino noted that if the story was floated to a publishing agent, “they very well may laugh at you saying ‘this is so absurd. This could never happen.'” He also had some ideas as to who the possible “mole” could be, but did not drop any names.

“Keep in mind, just a couple weeks ago Devin Nunes on this network in an interview with Maria Bartiromo had another bombshell. That there was no official foreign intelligence, through official channels passed into the United States,” Bongino told Carlson. “That was a huge bombshell because notice what He didn’t say: he didn’t say that it passed though unofficial channels.”

“I have my suspicions about who this asset is, as do many others by the way,” Bongino continued.  “This is going to be explosive though when this name comes out. Because the list of suspects is very short. And there are some very suspicious people who are connected to people within our intelligence community now.”

He wished “none of this was true” but acknowledged that “it appears sadly that is it,”

Carlson asked directly if he believed the FBI was receiving information from within the Trump campaign,to which  Bongino replied simply, “Yes.”

“I believe there is more than one source for the FBI,” he added, noting that he was not spinning conspiracy theories but basing his opinion on information that is “already out there” about connections to Obama and the Clintons.

“This is a big contaminated witch’s brew of people who are all connected to each other,” Bongino said.
