A Canadian zoo is under attack after bringing a bear to get ice cream at a Dairy Queen in Alberta, according to a report by The Guardian Wednesday.

A private zoo is facing two charges after bringing an orphan Kodiak bear named Berkley to a Dairy Queen drive-thru to get an ice cream cone, The Guardian reported.

A video depicting the incident was uploaded to social media by Discovery Wildlife Park, causing concern from authorities, The New York Post added.

The video was deleted after receiving backlash. The 28-year-old zoo is now facing charges under Alberta’s Wildlife Act for failing to notify authorities that workers were taking a bear off property.

The video depicts a Dairy Queen owner giving the one-year-old bear an ice cream cone out of the drive-thru window. The video features a narrator saying “Bears can smell 21 times better than the average dog and 2,100 times better than us humans.”

“Under the terms and conditions of the zoo’s permit, the charges are directly related to the alleged failure of the park to notify the provincial government prior to the bear leaving the zoo,” Alberta Fish and Wildlife told The Guardian in an official statement.

“We made a mistake. I’m embarrassed about it,” Doug Bos, the owner of the zoo, told The Guardian. “Every time we take an animal off the property, we’re supposed to notify Fish and Wildlife, send them an email, and we forgot to do that in both instances.” Bos also said that he will plead guilty to the charges he’s facing.

The zoo noted that in January that the bear was taken to the drive-thru before the fast-food restaurant opened to not cause disruption among other customers. The zoo will now be required to provide additional information to Wildlife authorities prior to transporting an animal.
