CNN’s Camerota marvels over ‘sacrifices’ from those who stood silent on N.Y. AG’s alleged abuse for sake of Dem Party

CNN’s Alisyn Camerota seemed quite taken aback by revelations about the accusations against former New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman.

The “New Day” host spoke with Ronan Farrow, one of the reporters who broke the bombshell report of sexual assault accusations against Schneiderman, who announced his resignation on Tuesday.

Farrow explained that some of the alleged victims were hesitant to come forward for the New Yorker piece due to fear of reprisals and, in some cases, party politics.

“A lot of their friends and loved ones said, ‘Don’t do it. Don’t speak out against him,’” Farrow said Tuesday.

“And in some cases, that was because they feared the risk of reprisals. They described him threatening people — using his office and power to say he could wiretap people or he could come after people,” he explained.

Four separate women detailed the “nonconsensual physical violence” by the powerful and prominent Democrat who, ironically, had become an outspoken advocate for the #MeToo movement and just as outspoken about condemning ex-Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein, whose story of sexual abuse of women was also broken by a report by Farrow.

“But also in some cases, Alisyn, those friends warned them off of talking because they thought that he had the power to do too much good for the Democratic Party,” the reporter told Camerota on Tuesday.

“That’s a story in itself,” the CNN anchor replied, “of the sacrifices that people think they make for the cause. The personal sacrifices.”

Schneiderman, one of New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s right-hand men, turned in his resignation hours after the story broke.

“While these allegations are unrelated to my professional conduct or the operations of the office, they will effectively prevent me from leading the office’s work at this critical time,” he said in a statement Tuesday. “I therefore resign my office, effective at the close of business.”
