Photos from Macron’s D.C. visit captivate, but no one saw Melania’s bold fashion statement coming

Social media was abuzz with President Emmanuel Macron’s two-day visit to the White House.

A seemingly endless display of affection, admiration and some unconventional (albeit highly entertaining moments) had folks from around the world entranced.

First lady Melania Trump welcomed President Macron and his wife Brigette, and shared a tweet of some of the first moments:

The couples had fun planting a tree on White House grounds that President Macron had brought as a gift. And while a short black dress and heels isn’t usually worn for gardening work, Melania was just warming up for the fashion surprises to come.

The light-hearted moment garnered plenty of attention:

A trip to Mt Vernon also gained plenty of attention with this viral photo:

But alas, when one in the group happens to be a former supermodel who has keen eye for fashion, she’s bound to steal the show. The hat, the shoes … where to begin!?

The Trumps welcomed Macron and his wife Brigitte to the White House on Tuesday with a state arrival cermony. And, it was all smiles for the happy couples:

And hugs and kisses that had to work around the hat:

Aside from Melania’s stunning appearance, the budding friendship between Presidents Trump and Macron was the talk of social media.

There was plenty of hand holding:

And a few awkward moments, including a quip from President Trump who boasted of their friendship while wiping “dandruff” from Macron’s sport coat. But, perhaps the best moment was when a rude reporter asked President Trump a question about his former lawyer Michael Cohen. Trump wasted no time slapping the reporter down, and the move seemed to take Macron by surprise, but he didn’t appear displeased.
