Trump orders end to ‘catch and release’ with one signature. Here’s what it means.

President Trump ordered an end to the controversial “catch and release” practices that have promoted illegal immigration in the United States, saying it’s time to protect Americans and respect their laws.

“Today, President Donald J. Trump signed a Presidential Memorandum to take important steps to end ‘catch and release,’ the dangerous practice whereby aliens who have violated our Nation’s immigration laws are released into the United States shortly after their apprehension,” a statement by the White House read.

“The safety and security of the American people is the President’s highest priority, and he will keep his promise to protect our country and to ensure that our laws are respected.”

President Trump also urged Democrats to stop encouraging illegal aliens to violate federal immigration laws. “The President continues to call on congressional Democrats to cease their staunch opposition to border security and to stop blocking measures that are vital to the safety and security of the United States,” the statement read.

The order directs the Department of Homeland Security to provide “a detailed list of all existing facilities, including military facilities, that could be used, modified, or repurposed to detain aliens for violations of immigration law at or near the borders of the United States.”

“Catch and release” has been a de facto policy followed by ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) for years because the department lacked enough resources to detain illegal immigrants.

The policy has been widely slammed because it allows illegal aliens to stay in the United States until their immigration trial date, which most do not show up for.

Critics argue that an illegal immigrant would never dream of showing up illegally in any other country in the world and expect to be allowed to stay. But that happens all the time in the U.S.

Ironically, Mexico (and most other countries) immediately expel illegal aliens, but expect American taxpayers to pay for their housing, education, and healthcare costs. It’s no wonder the middle class in the United States is shrinking and the national debt continues to skyrocket.

Meanwhile, the Mexican government issued a 31-page pamphlet, “Guide for the Mexican Migrant,” that instructs Mexican illegals to the United States on how to avoid deportation. Critics say the Mexican government actively encourages illegal immigration to the U.S. because they want to export poor, uneducated Mexicans out of their country.

Predictably, liberals slammed President Trump’s order halting “catch and release,” claiming it’s racist even though there is no mention of race in his memo.

While Democrats like Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, and Maxine Waters have blocked funding for a border wall claiming it’s too expensive, they blithely ignore that illegal immigration costs U.S. taxpayers more than $113 billion every year. By comparison, President Trump’s border wall would cost about $21.6 billion.
