How Trump critics and online bloviators are making a cushy living by tweeting

A startup peddling sometimes pricey access to locked Twitter accounts is allowing well-known online President Donald Trump critics to make a living off their attacks and bloviation. One, for example, reportedly makes up to $200,000 a year on the social media platform.

Premo, founded in mid-2017, says it “helps the world’s creators build a sustainable business around their most valuable content.” One of those “gamechanging insights” comes from Eric Garland, a self-described “conspiracy analyst” and frequent condemner of Trump and his supporters, according to The Outline.

Garland on his normal Twitter profile has around 174,000 followers. He has around 307 subscribers on his Premo account — comprising half of Premo’s politics section — who shell out $10 a month for his musings, The Outline reported. This means he makes $36,840 a year for his tweets, a far more than sufficient way to make some money along with whatever else Garland may do for a living at any given time (writing books, giving speeches).

His favorite point of contention is Russia and his belief the foreign adversary is purportedly able to control powerful entities within the U.S. — like the government and media. Somewhat notably, he was simultaneously ridiculed and praised for a 127-tweet screed, which reportedly garnered him thousands of more followers.

Garland also quite infamously became very defensive and angry when a number of publications wrote articles describing or implying he was a very non-essential but still very loud figure in the “#Resistance.”

There’s also former NSA officer and Naval War College Professor John Schindler, who according to The Outline, tweets a lot of the same things on his Premo account as he does his public feed — much like Garland.

“In other words, premium Schindler is just free Schindler behind a paywall,” The Outline’s Alex Nichols observes and personally paid for Premo access. “Very few people of note follow either Schindler or Garland,” Nichols added.

Schindler, who claims he’s a historian, security consultant, author, provocateur, among other diverse roles, constantly directs his ire at Trump — even reaminghim out for what he says are serious faults.

Schindler, like Garland and many Trump opponents, is focused on Russia and potential inappropriate links between the president’s campaign and administration, and the Kremlin. Schindler, according to The Outline, makes $17,000 a month from his 1,713 premium followers — equaling roughly $204,000 a year.

Both Twitter and Premo failed to respond to The Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for further details on their apparent partnership in time of publication.
