Conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh jabbed the FBI over reports that the agency had been tipped off about the Florida school shooter as a potential threat but had done nothing.
Limbaugh mocked the FBI which had spread itself “very, very thin” in chasing rabbit trails on President Trump instead of pursuing an alert that may have prevented Wednesday’s tragedy in Parkland when 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz opened fire on students and staff at Stoneman Douglas High School, killing 17 people.

The Bureau confirmed that it had received warnings about a 2017 YouTube video which had someone, possibly Cruz, making the comment, “I am going to be a professional school shooter.” Ben Bennight, another YouTube account holder, had informed the FBI about the comment back in September but the agency was unable to identify the YouTube account user at the time.
Bennight spoke with CNN’s Jake Tapper on Thursday.
“So he gave them the actual name of the guy who posted the comment — the promise, the threat — to do this, Nikolas Cruz, white Hispanic. And the FBI didn’t do anything with it,” Limbaugh said Thursday on his nationally syndicated radio show.
“So Bennight here, the guy you heard on the audio, said, ‘I don’t know what the FBI has to do to track down real identities. First, they’d call YouTube, and then YouTube would have to divulge the privacy of whoever sent the alert and all of this,’ but they still had the real name to go on,” Limbaugh continued.
“But, folks, we need to back off the FBI here just a little bit,” Limbaugh added, setting up his shot at the agency.
“The FBI is really busy right now,” Limbaugh scoffed. “They’re busy, I’m sure, tracking the entire Trump administration looking for additional sexual harassers. I mean, there may be as many as 4,000 of ’em in there they gotta track down.”
Apparently the nation’s principal federal law enforcement agency had its hands full with more pressing matters than an alarming YouTube comment, Limbaugh mocked.
“And then they’re still trying to corroborate the Steele dossier. And that’s a worldwide effort.” he said. “So the FBI has spread its resources here very, very thin, and we’ve gotta keep that in mind.”
Cruz, whose verified social media activity has revealed many disturbing elements, is in custody at the Broward County Jail, charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder.
