If Behar thought Pence was going to stand idly by while she slammed him & his faith, she thought wrong

Vice President Mike Pence may be a professing Christian but he wasn’t about to turn the other cheek after a mindless insult by Joy Behar.

Behar’s rant on “The View,” bashing Christianity and taking aim at Pence for his faith, prompted a scathing rebuke from the vice president directly.

“To have ABC maintain a broadcast forum that compared Christianity to mental illness is just wrong,” Pence said Wednesday on C-SPAN. “It is simply wrong for ABC to have a television program that expresses that kind of religious intolerance.”

The hosts of the daytime television show had been discussing former White House staffer Omarosa Manigault Newman who left her position in the Trump administration and reappeared as a contestant in “Celebrity Big Brother.”

“As bad as you think Trump is, you would be worried about Pence — everyone that is wishing for impeachment might want to reconsider their life,” she said in a clip from the reality show which was shared on “The View.”

“I am Christian. I love Jesus, but he thinks Jesus tells him to say things,” she said to the other contestants.

Behar interjected with her unique brand of wisdom.

“It’s one thing to talk to Jesus. It’s another thing when Jesus talks to you. That’s called mental illness, if I’m not correct, hearing voices,” Behar said, before going on to trash the vice president for his self-proclaimed practice of refusing to be alone with a woman unless his wife is with him.

And while this practice may have saved a lot of men from being on the receiving end of the #MeToo avalanche, Behar and her liberal sidekicks could only criticize.

“Can he talk to Mary Magdalene without his wife in the room,” she offered to the delight of the audience.

“Well, if hearing the voice God means that a Christian is mentally insane – then add my name to that list. Because – just like Vice President Pence — I too — have heard the voice of God,” Fox News host and author Todd Starnes wrote Wednesday. “And I suspect many faithful followers of Jesus have heard His voice — including Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Does Behar believe that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was mentally insane, too?”

For Pence, his faith is completely something that guides his life.

“My faith sustains me in all that I do,” he told C-SPAN, adding that “The View” hosts insulted the “vast majority of the American people who cherish faith.”

“It demonstrates how out of touch some in the mainstream media are with the faith and values of the American people that you could have a major network like ABC permit a forum for invective against religion like that,” he said.

Behar took an ever-so-slight step back later on Tuesday though she still finds anyone talking to or hearing from Jesus should be suspect.

“I think Mike Pence, say what you want about him and his religiosity. I don’t think he’s mentally ill. Even though he is saying he hears voices I don’t think he’s that crazy,” she said.

“If ABC News wants to employ an anti-Christian bigot — that is their business. It’s a free country,” Starnes declared as he made a final, and credible, conclusion.

“But let’s be honest — had Joy Behar said about gay people what she said about Christians — she would’ve been fired on the spot and hauled out on the studio on live television,” he wrote.
