America’s military veterans aren’t exactly the type to back down from something they believe in.

American Veterans, a group started by World War II vets, was stunned the when the NFL rejected its Super Bowl ad last week claiming it was too “controversial.”
AMVETS was incensed by the NFL’s “inexcusable” rejection, and has come back swinging with a powerful 30 second Public Service Announcement. The veterans group expanded its simple message of asking people to stand for the anthem, to encourage Americans to get involved with public service and voting.
“Our message has always been patriotic and polite,” AMVETS Executive Director Joe Chenelly told the Daily Caller. Chenelly explained that the NFL was way off the mark by calling their proposed NFL ad too political, and said their message is about being an American.

“It simply requests that people choose to stand during the National Anthem. It neither judges, vilifies or even opposes those who choose otherwise,” Chenelly said. “We’re simply asking that people choose standing, and the NFL has made it harshly clear that it does not want veterans delivering this message anywhere near its biggest game. We think that’s wrongheaded.”
Chenelly spoke with Fox News Channels’ Brian Kilmead last week, saying he was extremely disappointed with the NFL’s decision and called the move a type of “censorship.”
AMVETS has considered itself a nonpartisan group from its founding 70 years ago, and isn’t buying the NFL’s reasoning that standing for the anthem is politically polarzing.
President Trump touched on the theme during his SOTU address Tuesday night to the delight of many Americans:
