Congressman Adam Schiff scared schiff-less.
The California Democrat is apparently desperate to block the release of the FISA memo that reportedly details widespread surveillance abuses by the Obama FBI and DOJ that illegally spied on Trump associates.
In a late-night letter to Devin Nunes — the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee — Schiff claimed Republicans “secretly altered” the FISA memo before sending it to President Trump for review. The letter will be made public if Trump has no objections to its release.
“After reviewing both versions, it is clear that the Majority made material changes to the version it sent to the White House, which Committee members were never apprised of, never had the opportunity to review, and never approved,” Schiff wrote.
“It is now imperative that the Committee Majority immediately withdraw the document that it sent to the White House.”

After his widely praised first State of the Union address, President Trump was heard on a hot mic saying he “100%” will release the FISA memo. The White House is expected to release the memo as early as Friday.

Adam Schiff, the ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, did not say what edits were made to the original memo that he found so objectionable. But Jack Langer, a spokesman for the committee, slammed Schiff’s ploy as a “strange attempt to thwart publication of the memo.”
In a statement, Langer said the committee made “minor edits” to fix for grammatical errors, and had made “two edits” at the request of Democrats and the FBI:
“The committee minority is now complaining about minor edits to the memo, including grammatical fixes and two edits requested by the FBI and by the minority themselves.
The vote to release the memo was absolutely procedurally sound and in accordance with House and committee rules. To suggest otherwise is a bizarre distraction from the abuses detailed in the memo, which the public will hopefully soon be able to read for themselves.”
Democrats like Adam Schiff and Nancy Pelosi have been panicked ever since Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee voted to release the memo chronicling widespread surveillance abuses that resulted in the illegal spying-on of Trump campaign officials.
In the four-page memo, GOP lawmakers described the “alarming” and “shocking” abuses of the Obama FBI and DOJ to spy on Donald Trump when he was running for president against his pal, Hillary Clinton.
Republicans who read the memo say the Obama FBI and DOJ used the unverified, discredited “Trump dossier” to obtain a bogus FISA (Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act) warrant to illegally spy on Trump campaign officials.
Meanwhile, GOP lawmaker Trey Gowdy isn’t surprised that Schiff is trying so hard to keep the memo from seeing the light of day.
Gowdy — who was a federal prosecutor from 1994 to 2000 — said the FISA memo is “embarrassing” to Schiff and to Democrats because it shows the desperate lengths they went to hide how Obama abused and weaponized the FBI and the Department of Justice for political gain.
“My Democratic colleagues didn’t want us to find this information,” Gowdy told Fox News (video below). “They did everything they could to keep us from finding this information. It will be embarrassing to Adam Schiff once people realize the extent to which he went to keep them from learning any of this.”
