White House Chief of Staff John Kelly did not sugar-coat his response to a California high school teacher who denounced the military in a profane-laced rant in the classroom.
“I think the guy ought to go to hell,” Kelly told Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade Wednesday. “I hope he enjoys the liberties and the lifestyle that we have fought for.”

The former four-star general was reacting to a recording of El Rancho High School teacher and elected Pico Rivera city councilman, Gregory Salcido, in which he bashed the military. Salcido was recorded by a student in his government class condemning the U.S. military as “the lowest of our low.”
The 49-year-old teacher came under immediate backlash and was placed on administrative leave, pending an investigation, after the video revealed him insulting the military fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.

“Because we have a bunch of dumbs‑‑‑s over there,” Salcido said in the profanity-filled video. “Think about the people who you know who are over there. Your freaking stupid Uncle Louie or whatever. They’re dumbs‑‑‑s. They’re not like high-level thinkers, they’re not academic people, they’re not intellectual people. They’re the lowest of our low.”
Salcido was immediately under fire for his remarks, as a petition was launched demanding he be fired and his colleagues on the Pico Rivera City Council condemned his actions. The mayor and council members stated that they “unequivocally disagree and condemn the recent comments” by Salcido and declared that those serving in the military “are respected and we are grateful for their service.”

Salcido was placed on administrative leave by the El Rancho Unified School District on Monday and the school’s superintendent said “there will be disciplinary measures taken,” according to the Washington Post.
A school board meeting on Tuesday was “standing room only,” according to a reporter as attendees were angered that Salcido’s controversial comments were not on the agenda for the evening.

The school board president told attendees the topic would be addressed at their next regular meeting, on Tuesday at Pico Rivera City Hall where officials are expecting large crowds will be in attendance. A protest is also scheduled for Friday at the high school.
“Patriots from all over Southern California are uniting at El Rancho High School to stand up for the men and women of our American Military, in support of students, and to ensure the faculty is being held accountable for false indoctrination and not meeting the ethical standards our students deserve,” the organizers wrote on Facebook.
Meanwhile, John Kelly’s thoughts on Salcido and where he should go were echoed on Twitter as many applauded the chief of staff.
Considering Kelly’s son gave his life serving, I’d say I’m not surprised at his response.
