Watch 4 words escape Joy Behar’s lips critics have been saying since Day 1 of the Mueller investigation

Since the fallout and general mass hysteria following the election of Donald Trump in 2016, the narrative insisted upon in the left-of-center media has been that the Russians and the Trump campaign must have engaged in a massive conspiracy to deprive the ‘inevitable’ president Hillary Clinton from her rightful place atop the United States political pecking order.

How things have changed. Over a year into the Russian interference investigation spearheaded by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, we’re seeing a serious pivot away from the narrative that the U.S. media have beaten Americans over the head with for over a year.

It’s about the obstruction, stupid. That’s the signal being sent out from news outlets following President Trump’s verbal hedged agreement to testify before Mueller if called upon, an offer that Mueller appears set to take Trump up on.

The View, a majority liberal-hosted television serial that acts in some ways as a cultural touchstone for the loosely politically attached, has all but admitted that the Mueller probe is unlikely to produce the legal gamechanger that impeachment-seeking Democrats have been hoping for.

Witness the rhetorical bait-and-switch.

“So far Mueller has interviewed Sessions, Comey, Pompeo, Flynn, Bannon, like he’s making his way down the roster of people who we need to find out what is happening,” Meghan McCain said. “This is moving at a much faster pace than I had originally anticipated. I think the fact that President Trump is saying ‘I will testify anytime, put me on camera, whatever’ shows his confidence that he didn’t end up doing anything.”

“He had a little bit of a caveat,” Behar chimed in.

“This is about obstruction of justice, at this point,” McCain continued, “for firing Comey, and it’s not ultimately about Russian collusion. That’s what Mueller…”

Then came the four words that many have been waiting for liberal Democrats to confess.

“Collusion’s not a crime,” Behar said.

Collusion is not a crime? This is quite phenomenal. So we have a year of investigations and countless sensational news stories about a hypothetical case of Russian collusion that is not actually a crime. This is an argument made famous by Harvard professor Alan Dershowitz.

At this point, all the testimony from Trump and his associates can amount to is obstruction of justice for what appears to be a non-existent “crime” that isn’t actually a crime and submitting false statements to federal investigators over the non-criminal probe.

This is a surreal development in American politics. But voters should have seen this coming, as the real obstruction is that of the Democrats and their media associates attempting to prevent a Republican president from carrying out his political agenda.
