Pete Strzok text on joining Mueller’s team shows even anti-Trump FBI agent thought ‘there’s no big there there’

After five months of texts from anti-Trump FBI agent Pete Strzok, a former member of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation team, appears to have vanished into thin air, at least one is getting attention.

That’s what Strzok wrote in one of his texts as he was mulling the decision to join Mueller’s Russian election meddling investigation.

Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson, the chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, told WISN-Milwaukee radio host Jay Weber that the text is “jaw-dropping.”

“You and I both know the odds are nothing. If I thought it was likely, I’d be there no question. I hesitate in part because of my gut sense and concern that there’s no big there there,” Strzok wrote, as read aloud by Sen. Johnson on the radio broadcast.

“In other words, Peter Strzok, who was the FBI deputy assistant director of the counterintelligence division, the man who had a plan to do something because he just couldn’t abide Donald Trump being president, is saying that his gut sense is that there’s no big there there when it comes to the Mueller special counsel investigation,” Johnson continued.

As reported by the Daily Caller’s Chuck Ross, the text was part of 400 pages of texts between Pete Strzok and his mistress Lisa Page, who was working as an FBI lawyer.

The phrase “there’s no big there there” is an allusion to a famous adage by writer Gertrude Stein “there’s no there there,” which means essentially that there’s no story, even if proponents act as if there is one.

In a related report, Strzok and Page texts show that the two FBI employees discussed forming a “secret society” after the Trump election to oppose the incoming president.
