Moby outs CIA for asking him to use social media to say he has proof Trump dossier is ‘100% real’

DJ and grammy-nominated musician Moby is making explosive claims that the CIA asked him to use his influence on social media to underwrite that the Trump dossier is “100% true.”

Moby made waves in February 2016 when he claimed that he had “insider” information that Fusion GPS-spread dossier was real and that the Russian government was “blackmailing” the president.

The recording artist this week conducted an interview with WFPK’s Kyle Meredith on the startling claim, as reported by Pitchfork.

In the interview, Moby said there were “active and former CIA agents” who were “truly concerned” about Trump’s collusion with Russia.

“They were like, ‘This is the Manchurian Candidate, like [Putin] has a Russian agent as the President of the United States,’” Moby said. “So they passed on some information to me and they said, like, ‘Look, you have more of a social media following than any of us do, can you please post some of these things just in a way that … sort of put it out there.’”

“It’s really disturbing and it’s going to get quite a lot darker,” he continued. “Like the depths of the Trump family in business and their involvement with organized crime, sponsored terrorism, Russian oligarchs, it’s really dark. I guess we should all, like, fasten our seat belts and hold on.”

The anti-Trump celebrity may not realize he’s fueling the worst Deep State claims from the president’s supporters. The FBI is under fire for a reportedly partisan investigation, stemming from the anti-Trump texts of agent Peter Strzok, which the president now calls “treason.” The president claims that Obama intelligence agencies “wire tapped” his Trump Tower office. There is also the widespread belief that the previous administration abused its intelligence surveillance powers to “unmask” Trump officials.

Enter the CIA. As another agency being accused of anti-Trump activity, this can only further erode civil relations with the federal government’s intelligence and law enforcement communities.

If there is substantive evidence the White House colluded in some secret agreement with the Russians, then by all means intelligence agencies should produce the evidence. If not, they should hold their fire — and their tongues.

The CIA running to celebrities like Moby, if true, only undermines trust in the agency; the revelation also suggests that the case is currently so weak that anti-Trump agents need celebrities like Moby in order to carry the investigation’s water.

Correction: An earlier version stated that Moby was a “grammy-winning” musician, while he only been nominated multiple times. We regret the error.
