Joint presser with foreign leader ends up in scathing rebuke of ‘Democrat hoax’ – Trump unloads

President Trump is sure there was collusion with the Russian government during the 2016 U.S. election – but it wasn’t with him or the GOP.

The president told reporters at a joint press conference with Norway’s prime minister Wednesday that the collusion was between Democrats and Russians in a political “witch hunt” that is ongoing.

Trump and Norwegian prime minister Erna Solberg answered several questions about economics, energy sources and their NATO alliance as well as direct questions about the U.S. investigation into Russian collusion.

“President Trump has said that the investigation into Russian collusion makes our country ‘look very bad,’ and he said this morning that ‘the world is laughing at our stupidity,” one reporter addressed Solberg, referring to a recent tweet by Trump.

“So my question to you is, are you laughing at the Russian investigation?” the reporter asked.

“I think that it’s up to every political system and countries to scrutinize and discuss their own political agenda in their countries, and I respect that very much, and that this is an issue for American politics. I’d just like to say that it has impacted also in Europe,” Solberg responded.

“I think all European countries who have had elections this year has been looking into will there be any type of tampering of others. We concluded after our election that we could not find any proof of any and tried to put an emphasis on that from countries outside Norway. I think it was a very Norwegian election with Norwegian participants,” she added.

Trump then interjected with his own thoughts on the issue.

“I will say this: there is collusion, but it’s really with the Democrats and the Russians far more than it is with Republicans and the Russians,” he said.  “So the witch hunt continues.”

In another response to a question by Fox News’ chief White House correspondent John Roberts, the president blasted the allegations of collusion between his campaign and Russian officials as a “Democrat hoax” that has cast a “phony cloud” over his administration.

“Are you open to meeting with (special counsel Robert Mueller)? Would you be willing to meet with him without condition? Or would you demand that a strict set of parameters be placed around any encounter between you and the special counsel?” Robert asked.

“Well, again John, there has been no collusion between the Trump campaign and Russians or Trump and Russians. No collusion. When I watch you interviewing all the people leaving their committees, I mean, the Democrats are all running for office, trying to say this that — but bottom line, they all say there’s no collusion. And there is no collusion,” Trump responded, adding “I’ll speak to attorneys.”

“I can only say this, there was absolutely no collusion. Everybody knows it. Every committee — I’ve been in office now for 11 months. For 11 months, they’ve had this phony cloud over this administration, over our government. And it has hurt our government,” Trump said.

“It does hurt our government,” he added. “It’s a Democrat hoax that was brought up as an excuse for losing an election that frankly the Democrats should have won because they have such a tremendous advantage in the electoral college.”
