Sen. Ted Cruz made a move recognizing the value of one of President Trump’s proudest accomplishments in office, and then asked Democrats to join him.

The Republican tax reform bill gave Americans much appreciated tax cuts in spite of Democrats who were not on board with the legislation. Cruz called out Democrats who have been whining about the GOP tax bill, inviting them to join him in permanently securing the individual tax cuts included in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.
The Texas Republican introduced a bill seeking to make the individual tax cuts, which would be expiring after 2025, permanent. The tax reform legislation cut tax brackets and permanently cut the corporate tax rate to 21 percent, while budget rules required the individual cuts be temporary, allowing Senate Republicans to pass the bill on a party-line vote, according to The Hill.
I invite Senator Sanders and all of my Democratic colleagues to join me today and make tax rate cuts for hardworking middle class families permanent: https://t.co/Y1oQaJQ4kj pic.twitter.com/3BxHyHFegn

Sen. Bernie Sanders believed the new law’s individual tax cuts were good but he told CNN last month they should have been made permanent.
.@jaketapper: “Next year, 91% of middle income Americans will receive a tax cut. Isn’t that a good thing?”@BernieSanders: “Yeah, it is a very good thing. And that’s why we should’ve made the tax cuts for the middle class permanent” #CNNSOTU https://t.co/ei8xTHGo1E

Cruz seized the moment and called on Sanders to cosponsor his bill.
I agree, @BernieSanders — let’s make the middle-class tax cuts permanent. Join me, we’ll co-sponsor legislation (I’ve already got it drafted) that does exactly that, and we’ll get it passed in January! https://t.co/7A3Wg6c4M9

Sanders, however, accused Republicans of taking his CNN comments “completely out of context” because they “are so desperate to spin their disastrous tax plan.”
The new tax law is “one of the worst pieces of legislation in the modern history of our country,” Sanders said in a statement last month.
Tell that to Americans who saw wage increases and bonuses at their jobs from corporations following the passage of the bill.
