Mike Flynn’s younger brother reached out to President Donald Trump telling him it’s “about time” to pardon the former national security adviser who pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI.
“About time you pardoned General Flynn who has taken the biggest fall for all of you given the illegitimacy of this confessed crime in the wake of all this corruption,” Joseph Flynn said in a since-deleted tweet Tuesday, Newsweek reported.
The younger Flynn, who has set up a legal defense fund for his brother, tweeted in response to Trump’s own remarks in which he slammed the FBI and the “pile of garbage” dossier against him.
WOW, @foxandfrlends “Dossier is bogus. Clinton Campaign, DNC funded Dossier. FBI CANNOT (after all of this time) VERIFY CLAIMS IN DOSSIER OF RUSSIA/TRUMP COLLUSION. FBI TAINTED.” And they used this Crooked Hillary pile of garbage as the basis for going after the Trump Campaign!

“I responded,” Flynn told Newsweek, saying he found Trump’s tweet interesting. “I said it, and maybe he’s listening.”
“I stand by my tweet. This is all my personal opinion and I stand by it,” he later tweeted to Newsweek about his earlier post which had been deleted within minutes, according to the publication.

Later, Flynn tweeted again to the president, asking hin for “quick action” on his brother’s behalf.
Mr. President, I personally believe that a pardon is due to General Flynn, given the apparent and obvious illegitimacy of the manner in which the so called “crimes”he plead guilty to were extracted from him. I ask for quick action on this. Thank you and keep up the good work!

The former Army general and campaign aide, as part of a plea deal plea in Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 election, pleaded guilty on Dec. 1 to lying to the FBI about his contacts with the former Russian ambassador.
Earlier this month, on his way to speak at a graduation ceremony at the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s academy in Quantico, Virginia, Trump wasn’t ready to commit to a pardon for Flynn.
“I don’t want to talk about pardons for Michael Flynn yet. We’ll see what happens. Let’s see,” he told reporters, as seen in the following video, at the 4:55 mark.
