Rep. John Conyers (R-MI) saw his multi-decade career in Congress sullied by numerous credible accusations of sexual misconduct were made by women working on Capitol Hill.

The representative has not resigned from the accusations, which arise from four staffers’ signed affidavits that he made unwanted sexual advances.

The alleged infractions include sexual favors, unwanted public touching, and misusing staff to transport women suspected of having an affair with Conyers.

On Wednesday night, Rep. Conyers did not resign from office, as many political observers were anticipating. Instead, Conyers announced that he would not be running again in the 2018 elections.

Rep. Conyers enraged taxpayers after the news came out that a Congressional “slush fund” was essentially paying off sexual harassment and abuse accusers with government money. Conyers will conclude his time in Congress that began back in 1965.

Conyers is the longest-serving member of Congress and is founder of the Congressional Black Caucus.
