Matt Lauer creepfest: Gifting co-worker sex toy, reportedly had button to lock ladies in office

Highly disturbing accusations about former “Today” host Matt Lauer’s pattern of sexually deviant behavior continue to surface, and the track record paints a damning picture of the NBC News workplace.

Matt Lauer found himself booted by NBC after a recent accusation of “inappropriate behavior” by a co-worker and was announced Wednesday by his female colleagues at the “Today” show.

The details of the allegedly lewd behavior were sparse on Wednesday morning. A slow leak of news has subsequently made its way into the press shedding light on Lauer’s lascivious pattern of behavior, which runs contrary to NBC’s claim that he was only fired due to recent incidents of questionable sexual behavior.

The incident that apparently led to his termination was a claim of sexual harassment that allegedly took place at the Sochi Olympics in 2014. An NBC insider revealed how the decision supposedly went down:

“This happened so quickly. She didn’t go to the media, she made a complaint to NBC’s human resources, and her evidence was so compelling that Matt was fired on Tuesday night. The victim says she has evidence that this has also happened to other women, but so far we don’t have evidence of that.”

NBC News Chair Andy Lack claimed that this was the first complaint of Lauer’s misbehavior.

“On Monday night, we received a detailed complaint from a colleague about inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace by Matt Lauer. It represented, after serious review, a clear violation of our company’s standards. As a result, we’ve decided to terminate his employment,” Lack wrote.

“While it is the first complaint about his behavior in the over twenty years he’s been at NBC News, we were also presented with reason to believe this may not have been an isolated incident,” he continued.

However, it does not appear to be an isolated incident for several reasons. Therefore, NBC News may be attempting to wash its hands of the newsroom’s tolerance for Matt Lauer’s sexual predations with the scripted response.

It also appears that Variety was ready to break a big story about Lauer’s history of inappropriate sexual behavior while at NBC.

“At , & I had been working on a Matt Lauer story for months and NBC was aware. There are multiple women we’ve spoken to with far-ranging accusations against Lauer. The power of journalism has never been more evident with this cultural change,” a Variety journalist wrote.

Furthermore, a news story at Fox News retells that Lauer reportedly gifted a colleague a “sex toy.” As reported:

On the same day “Today” announced Lauer had been let go following a “detailed complaint” of inappropriate sexual behavior with a female colleague, Variety reported Lauer’s behavior with women at NBC included luring a female employee into his office and exposing his penis to her, giving a sex toy as a gift and playing the game “f–k, marry or kill.” The magazine also reported the TV host had a button beneath his desk to lock his office door if he wanted privacy.

Numerous women complained about Lauer’s behavior to executives, according to the report — but it added that the complaints “fell on deaf ears.”

That may not be the most disturbing accusation. The Variety report ostensibly published prematurely due to news of Lauer’s firing contains some seriously alarming claims. Among them, as Vice News pointed out:

  • Lauer had a switch under his office desk that allowed him to lock the door without getting up, allowing him to make inappropriate advances on female staffers without worrying about being walked in on. His office was also located in a “secluded area,” the report says.

As reported at BizPac Review earlier, there was an extremely disturbing segment that aired on Today that showed a pantless Matt Lauer talking to four of his female colleagues.

Samantha Guthrie responded to Lauer going pantless in the office with an eyebrow-raising, “Again, Matt?”

Then there is the matter of Katie Couric saying during a 2012 interview that Matt Lauer “pinches my a**, a lot.” She also said in a “shag, marry, kill” portion that she would “marry” Matt Lauer.

It appears from the comments of NBC News personalities and on-air banter that it was something of an open secret that Matt Lauer was a bit of a sexual predator.

The details are still coming out and there is a media feeding frenzy. We don’t know if the worst of the Matt Lauer claims are true. However, the picture we are getting is a truly ugly one; not just for Matt Lauer, but for NBC News.
