Suspect caught with 77 pounds of weed in his car

A man from Colorado is facing drug charges in Iowa, after being caught with 77 pounds of marijuana in his car. 34-year-old Darrel Wait was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

Wait’s attorney was contacted about the case but had no comment, according to The Associated Press.

A sheriff’s deputy in Woodbury County performed the traffic stop on Wait’s vehicle Sunday because his back license plate number was being obscured.

The officer then brought in a drug sniffing dog to check the car for contraband and discovered the hidden cannabis. Wait was later taken into custody.

County authorities said the marijuana has a street value of around $450,000.
