CNN’s Brooke Baldwin runs, trips and falls tying Trump’s UCLA player comments to racism

CNN’s Brooke Baldwin did her part in pushing the mindless liberal reach to tie President Trump’s comments about the UCLA players to racism.

The host of “CNN Newsroom With Brooke Baldwin” focused on an imaginary racial aspect to Trump intervening to secure the release of three UCLA basketball players who were arrested in China on shoplifting charges last week.

“You have these three black men and you have this white president and part of it has been the undertone of based on previous tweets…” Baldwin said on a panel with Brian Stelter and S.E. Cupp on Wednesday.

“I was trying to walk into it, you can run in, I was going to step in…” Cupp said.

“I’m just going to go there, and where I’m going with it is that you have this president essentially saying to these three black men, essentially like ‘where’s my apology?’” Baldwin continued, referring to the president’s tweet  Wednesday wondering if the freed players would “say thank you President Trump?”

“You better thank me, because I got you home, and ‘isn’t it amazing to see three black athletes thanking the president?’” Cupp agreed.  “I don’t think that’s going to make someone like Colin Kaepernick second-guess his thoughts on police brutality, or any of the other athletes who have serious issues with race in this country or police brutality, I don’t think it is going to change their minds. But, Trump got a very small ego boost today.”

Apparently there must have been a strategy meeting at CNN as the race issue was brought up by CNN editor-at-large Chris Cillizza as well on Wednesday while he psycho-analyzed the president’s tweet following the release of the players.

“That the three players are all young black men should also not be lost here. Trump’s history on racial issues — both as president and as a private citizen — shows some level of intentionality when it comes to using racially coded language and taking advantage of racial animus and stereotypes for his own political gain,” Cillizza wrote.

In the endless contortions to paint the president in a negative light, CNN’s Baldwin and others tried and failed to make a racial issue out of Trump’s tweet when there was no mention of racism in reports on the negotiations to free the athletes who had clearly broken the law.

Twitter users called out Baldwin and the network.
