Planned Parenthood to black women: Abort your baby if you want to live

Planned Parenthood sent a message to black women Tuesday implying that their best option, due to a lack of resources during pregnancy, is to abort their unborn babies.

The Planned Parenthood Black Community, a subset of the PP Action Fund, tweeted out that it is statistically safer for black women to have an abortion than to give birth to their child.

“If you’re a Black woman in America, it’s statistically safer to have an abortion than to carry a pregnancy to term or give birth #ScaryStats,” the group tweeted Tuesday.

And the statistics for black women and pregnancy are troubling: 43.5 black women out of 100,000 die due to pregnancy related complications, compared to the 12.7 white women out of 100,000 who die under similar circumstances.

While the numbers are startling, it remains unclear why Planned Parenthood Black Community would make the comparison that black women aborting their babies is safer for them. The group went so far as to link to an article claiming that abortion related deaths are incredibly rare.

Black women received 35 percent of abortions in the United States, according to data from the Center for Disease Control.

The group also seemed to double down on their comparison, tweeting out a GIF in reaction to anger from the pro-life crowd. “I feel so damn powerful,” it read.
