Stevie Wonder sends message to Trump as he kneels during anthem: ‘Feel me, Mr. President’

Singer Stevie Wonder took both knees as he performed the national anthem at the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Austin, Texas, on Sunday.

After singing for two hours, Wonder knelt and played the Star-Spangled Banner on his harmonica. “It is time for the leader of this nation, the leaders in the varied political positions, the people, we as artists — all of us — to come together as a united people of these United States of America,” Wonder said (via Austin 360). “Feel me, feel me, Mr. President.”

The blind Grammy winner had started off by saying, “I’ve never seen the color of my skin, nor the color of your skin. Not to get political, because I don’t like to do that.”

And then he proceeded to get political. This is the second time Stevie Wonder has taken the knee during the national anthem, reportedly to protest racism against African-Americans.

Wonder did the same in September, when he said: “I’m taking both knees. Both knees in prayer for our planet, our future, our leaders of the world, and our globe. Amen.”

Protesting the American flag and the anthem was started by unemployed quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who began hijacking NFL games by refusing to stand for the Star-Spangled Banner.

Other NFL players later joined the protest, which has severely hurt football’s standing as America’s favorite sport. Ratings for NFL games have cratered as fans disgusted by the injection of leftist politics into their leisure time boycotted the league in droves.

Kaepernick claimed he stopped standing for the national anthem to protest police brutality against African-Americans. But he did nothing when blacks were killed by cops (both black and white) during Barack Obama’s 8-year presidency. Moreover, Kaepernick does not even bother to vote, and says nothing about the countless black-on-black murders that occur every day across the United States.

While Kaepernick and other millionaire pro athletes (who are treated like kings) trash the United States for racism, in Europe, actual racism against black soccer players has been widespread for decades. Racist fans routinely throw bananas at black players. Where is the media and celebrity outrage?

Why is no one taking a knee to protest racism in European soccer, where fans throw bananas at black players?

In 2014, Barcelona’s Dani Alves reacted to having a banana thrown at him by casually eating it on the soccer field. Alves now plays for Paris Saint-Germain.
