Popular musician Robert Ritchie, also known as “Kid Rock,” is leading the GOP’s U.S. Senate race in Michigan, according to a poll released Friday.
The poll reportedly showed Ritchie leading other candidates in the Republican primary. This poll comes as Ritchie continues hinting at officially announcing his Senate bid against Michigan Democratic Sen. Debbie Stabenow, but has yet to do so.
Ritchie has more support in the Republican primary than every other candidate combined, with a 29 percent lead over the potential candidates, according to the poll. Pollsters also said that Ritchie looks strong among supporters of Trump.

“The other big factor is that since President Trump did the unthinkable and flipped Michigan from blue to red in the 2016 presidential election, someone like Ritchie has the potential to harness that populist rage and resonate with blue collar Democrats and union voters who turned to Trump. Voters also might be attracted to Ritchie’s free spirit and ‘shoot from the hip’ personality,” pollster Jonathan Zogby told the Washington Examiner.
Ritchie created a website, KidRockForSenate.com in July, announcing his interest in a 2018 campaign to beat Stabenow, who has been in office since 2001.
Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel said Monday that she is skeptical that Ritchie is actually going to run for a Senate seat in Michigan.
