Republicans in Congress are scrutinizing more federal agencies following a report that U.S. postal employees performed union-funded work for Hillary Clinton’s campaign.
GOP lawmakers, with Senate Homeland Security Committee Chairman Ron Johnson at the head, fired off letters to 10 federal government agencies in an investigation into their policies for unpaid leave to perform union-related political work, Fox News reported.

An investigation last year by the Office of Special Counsel revealed that the US Postal Service violated federal law by allowing employees to conduct union-funded work for Clinton and other Democratic candidates while they were on leave.
According to Fox News:
House Oversight Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., joined Johnson’s efforts this week by penning joint letters to the departments of Commerce, Homeland Security, Defense, Justice, Labor, Transportation, Treasury, Agriculture, Veterans Affairs, and the Social Security Administration Monday. The letters concerned what’s known as ‘union official Leave Without Pay (LWOP)’ for political campaign activity.
The letters cited the OSC’s findings regarding the USPS that ‘only [employees] who wanted to campaign for the [union’s] endorsed candidates were given the opportunity to take several weeks of leave on short notice, over the objections of local supervisors who raised concerns about potential operational impact.’ The OSC’s findings revealed that the USPS violated the Hatch Act, a federal law that limits certain political activities of federal employees. While employees are allowed to do some political work on leave, the report said the USPS showed a ‘bias’ favoring the union’s 2016 campaign operation.
“The procedures by which federal employees request LWOP, and by which managers and supervisors consider these requests, are the product of negotiation between the agency and the employees’ collective bargaining representative,” South Carolina’s Gowdy and Wisonsin Senator Johnson wrote.

The Republican senators were seeking specific information to “ensure federal agencies are granting LWOP in a politically neutral manner.”
The lawmakers requested “state-by-state” data on the “use of LWOP in the three months prior to a federal election” going back to 2008, Fox News reported. They also sought agreements on the leave between the employees and agency as well as written policies and communications related to the use of LWOP.
The requested information is due by the deadline of September 11.
Twitter users criticized the corruption but were glad to have someone like Gowdy on the hunt for answers.

The wider the net of investigation of HRC, the more corruption that will be found. It’s impossible to over-investigate her and DNC. #MAGA

This is small change.
Why is Gowdy oversight focus on USPO when obama, Clinton, DWS, mafia are still controlling deep state? https://t.co/UEHfhgjHYX— ??blue collar?? (@r7runde) August 22, 2017
Aw come on no wonder they tried to deflect using Russia USPS cited for workers’ Clinton campaign aid | https://t.co/pRLoZH7I89
