Fmr. DHS secretary under Obama, Jeh Johnson, says statues are a threat to ‘public safety’ – WHAT?

Jeh Johnson, the former Homeland Security secretary under Barack Obama, said removing Confederate statues is an urgent matter of national security.

Johnson apparently condones the alt-left Antifa anarchists’ mass destruction of property because the statues — which don’t even move — pose a grave danger to Americans, especially minorities.

“That’s a matter of public safety and homeland security and doing what’s right,” Johnson said on ABC’s This Week.

Johnson did not say why he didn’t lift a finger to remove the “threatening” statues when he was in charge of Homeland Security from 2013 to 2017.

The ideal time to have removed the “racist” statues was when Obama was president for 8 years. But no one cared about those statues then. The Confederate statues — which most people never thought about — suddenly became a security risk under President Trump.

“What alarms so many of us, from a security perspective, is that so many of the Confederate monuments are now becoming symbols and rallying points for white nationalism, for neo-Nazis, for the KKK,” Johnson claimed. “We fought a world war against Nazism. The KKK rained terror on African-Americans for generations.”

Johnson was alluding to the Charlottesville, Virginia, rally last week, where a fringe group of 100 white supremacists gathered to protest the removal of a statue of Confederate general Robert E. Lee.

The rally — which was held on a Friday night — was peaceful until Saturday morning, when about 400 alt-left antifa thugs descended upon the city and started beating up the racist white supremacists.

While trashing the KKK, Johnson conveniently left out the fact that the Democratic Party created the KKK, and most of the Confederate statues are of Democrats, since they were the pro-slavery party.

“I salute those in cities and states who are taking down a lot of these monuments for reasons of public safety and security,” he said.

Meanwhile, many prominent black Americans, including NBA superstar Charles Barkley, said removing the statues is a stupid waste of time.

“I’m 54 years old,” Barkley said. “I’ve never thought about those statues a day in my life! If you ask most black people, they haven’t thought a day in their lives about those stupid statues.”

So where does it end? George Washington and Thomas Jefferson both owned slaves, and there are whole buildings (and cities!) named after them. Similarly, the White House was built by slaves. Should that iconic American symbol be destroyed too?
