“Everytime one of these situations happens, you know you see the worst of people sometimes. I think we saw it out of the left.”
Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke commended President Trump for his measured response to the violence in Virginia.
“I was proud of the way he handled that,” Clarke said on Fox News’ “Hannity” Monday.
The liberal media predictably attacked the president for what he did NOT say in his statement following the events that unfolded at a the “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville on Saturday which left a woman dead after a car drove into a crowd of counter-protesters.
But Clarke defended the president’s initial response, before all the facts were known, condemning the “egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides.”
“The liberal media couldn’t control themselves, they couldn’t resist the opportunity to somehow turn this on President Trump,” Clarke said, referring to how the clueless media immediately jumped on Trump for not calling out white supremacists specifically when he called for an end to all violence.
The president knows, Clarke explained, that “you have to be measured, you have to be calm” when addressing volatile events in the nation.
“You want to calm the waters. You want to be thoughtful in your initial statement because it’s early on. You don’t have all the facts and you don’t want to speak out of hand,” Clarke continued. “Then over the weekend as he learned more facts, he came out today and reiterated what he said and even some more forceful terms.”
Blinded to all but their own agendas, critics blasted Trump and anyone who dared agree with his reaction.
Fox & Friends host Pete Hegseth was hammered by the liberal media for saying Trump “nailed it” with his response condemning “in the strongest possible terms” the hatred from all parties involved. Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee pointed a finger back at the left for knee-jerk reactions in blasting the president for not immediately condemning James Fields, the 20-year-old driver who plowed into the crowd, before he was even identified.
Sheriff Clarke repeated that he was “proud” of the way Trump handled the situation, noting that there are “no winners” in tragic moments like this.
“It was hate versus hate,” he said. “It was the neo-Nazis, you had antifa, you had Black Lives Matter clashing. There’s just no winners there. Everytime one of these situations happens, you know you see the worst of people sometimes. I think we saw it out of the left.”
