Scaramucci criticizes Trump in Sunday interview before mysteriously hinting about Bannon’s demise

Anthony Scaramucci hinted on Sunday that Steve Bannon is on his way out of the White House.

In his first interview since being deposed as White House Communications Director after 10 days on the job, Scaramucci appeared on ABC’s “This Week With George Stephanopoulos” and started by being critical of President Donald Trump’s response to the terrorist attack in Charlottesville on Saturday.

“I wouldn’t have recommended that statement. I think he needed to be much harsher as it related to the white supremacists. The nature of that. I applaud General McMaster for calling it out for what it is. It’s actually terrorism. Whether, it’s domestic or international terrorism, with the moral authority of the presidency, you have to call that stuff out.”

Scaramucci took aim at “those around the president” for not advising him better before giving the statement the president gave on the Charlottesville attack.

It added to the attacks the president has received from the right since his statement.

“Whether I was the White House Communications Director or not, I don’t think you’re going to change the president. The president is going to do what he wants to do, how he wants to do it. But I think its important for the people around him, George, to give him direct advice. To be blunt with him. I think he respects bluntness and he respects candor. And I certainly would have never suggested him doing that,” he said.

Pressed by Stephanopoulos to name names, he suggested that Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner might advise him better, before taking on Steve Bannon.

Scaramucci said “this sort of ‘Bannon-bart’ influence” on President Trump “is a snag on the president.”

Stephanopoulos noticed Scaramucci was being hard on Bannon and asked if he thought the president was going to remove the former Breitbart head.

“I think the president knows what he’s going to do with Steve Bannon,” he said.

“Let’s leave it up to the president. It’s his decision, but at the end of the day, the president has a very good idea of who the leakers are inside the White House. The president has a very good idea of the people who are undermining his agenda that are serving their own interests,” he added.

Asked if Bannon was among the leakers, Scaramucci replied “well yeah,” before stopping himself and saying, “I would prefer to let the president make the decisions the president needs to make.”
