Dana Loesch is surprised by reaction to an NRA video and that a call to fact-check the media is being seen as a threat of violence.
The television and talk radio host pointed out that the ad from the National Rifle Association was not even new but had suddenly come on the radar of critics who objected to its tone.
“What surprised me the most was that people would think that a promise to fact-check a media organization was a physical threat, which it’s not,” Loesch told Fox News’ Dana Perino on “The Story” Monday.
“The whole point of this is to show the media and announce to the media: Look, we love a free press. But free people also have the right to criticize and fact-check the press,” Loesch said.
People are tired of bias in the media, she added, which has contributed to “political tribalism.”
“It’s not just conservatives that are affected,” Loesch said. “Liberals are affected too.”
The NRA ad featuring Loesch, a spokesperson for the organization, sparked heated backlash as critics claimed it was promoting physical violence by attacking the New York Times.

“We’ve had it with your constant protection of your Democrat overlords, your refusal to acknowledge any truth that upsets the fragile construct that you believe is real life,” Loesch said in the video “And we’ve had it with your pretentious, tone-deaf assertion that you are, in any way, truth or fact-based journalism.”
Loesch slammed the “dishonest, untrustworthy rag” for its “propaganda” and “fake news” in the video, promising that its stories would not go unchecked.
“We’re going to laser-focus on your so-called honest pursuit of truth. In short, we’re coming for you,” she warned.
“Consider this the shot across your proverbial bow,” Loesch said. “We’re going to Fisk the New York Times and find out just what deep rich means to this old gray hag.”

The use of the slang term, “Fisk,” which refers to debunking fake stories, was misheard by some who bashed Loesch for saying “fist.”
She responded to journalists who made the remarks, specifically calling out Yashar Ali, Adam Goldman, and Dave Weigel.

The controversial video ad even led one CNN analyst to report the NRA to Twitter for “hate speech.”
