Reuters was deservedly raked over the coals after a decision to camp outside of Sean Spicer’s home and share a live stream with viewers.
Just hours after the former White House press secretary had announced his resignation, the news organization turned into paparazzi mode, inviting everyone to watch “the scene” outside of Spicer’s private Washington-area home.

Spicer’s departure, reportedly in response to President Trump’s appointment of Anthony Scaramucci as White House communications chief, shocked many.
The former Trump spokesman has had a tumultuous few months in his position but told Fox News’ Sean Hannity the president did not want him to leave. But, with the addition of Scaramucci, Spicer felt there would be ‘too many cooks” in the White House and announced his departure on Friday morning. Deputy press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders was promoted to take over Spicer’s role.
While many on the left and in the mainstream media celebrated the news of another shake-up in the Trump administration, there seemed to be a coming together for those on all sides in condemning Reuters for its live feed decision.

Journalists and reporters across the divide assailed the organization whose White House correspondent, Jeff Mason, is also serving as the president of the White House Correspondents Association.

Reuters was summarily blasted for its unprofessional action and later took down the live feed.
“We and other major media outlets were there to see if a statement would be made,” the global head of PR and communications for Reuters, Abbe Serphos, told The Hill in an email.
“When it was clear there would be no statement, we left.”
