Ten days after telling the Wall Street Journal that he was attempting to get his hands on Hillary Clinton’s missing emails from Russian hackers, a Republican operative killed himself.
Peter W. Smith, gave the interview to the Journal during the presidential campaign in May 2016 and, after he died, WSJ reported there was no reason to suspect anything other than natural causes.
But now details of his demise have been discovered, by the Chicago Tribune, which reports that the 81-year-old killed himself and left a suicide note in which Smith took the time to clear anyone of murdering him.
“NO FOUL PLAY WHATSOEVER,” he wrote.
He blamed a “RECENT BAD TURN IN HEALTH SINCE JANUARY, 2017” and added that his “LIFE INSURANCE OF $5 MILLION (was) EXPIRING.”
Smith also told a man at the hotel he was staying in, across from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, that “tomorrow (was his) last day,” according to the police report of the suicide.
Someone employed at the hotel when Smith died said he was staying there while being treated for a heart condition.
Smith was found with a bag over his head and a source of helium.

His official cause of death was listed as “asphyxiation due to displacement of oxygen in confined space with helium.”
“When I got there and saw the tank, I thought, “I’ve seen this before,” and was able to put two and two together,” the former employee told the Tribune.
Smith implied that he was working with Gen. Mike Flynn and that he was convinced that Russian hackers had the missing emails.
Smith’s body was cremated, according to the Tribune.
Authorities don’t suspect foul play in Smith’s death, but social media was not certain.
Conspiracy theories started being spun quickly after the suicide note was reported.
The note says no foul play whatsoever, but at the end it also says “and I should’ve won by 50 points!” So that’s a little weird

If I’ve learned anything from Dateline, it’s that if someone leaves a note saying “NO FOUL PLAY WHATSOEVER” then usually there’s foul play.

Clintons Suicided another one: Peter W. Smith, man who sought Clinton emails, committed suicide. In “his” note-“no foul play whatsoever”

Congressman Ted Lieu got in on the act too, but it seemed his conspiracy theory focused on those close to President Donald Trump.
You don’t need to be a prosecutor to know that someone writing NO FOUL PLAY WHATSOEVER in connection with a death seems awfully suspicious.

But the majority of fingers in the conspiracy world were pointed at the Clintons.
You mean Vince Foster or Seth Rich?

NO FOUL PLAY WHATSOEVER. Right. Between the Clintons & the Obamas, they know more murdered people than the Chicago PD

Is it just a coincidence that every time someone tries to look into Clinton emails they die mysteriously with “no foul play whatsoever”?

NO FOUL PLAY WHATSOEVER is what they said about #SethRich pic.twitter.com/ngBGKKIPrz

Ron Brown? Vince Foster? GOP Operative seeking Hillary’s e-mails? Seth Rich? “NO FOUL PLAY WHATSOEVER”

Some in the #Resistance, other than Lieu, wanted to blame President Trump, but it’s tough to comprehend why he would want to get rid of someone that was attempting to help him. Particularly if you want to believe in the Russia collusion theory.
Seems like only somebody in the Trump orbit would be stupid enough to write a “suicide” note: “NO FOUL PLAY WHATSOEVER” for Smith.
