CBS pressed pause on covering news on Sunday, choosing instead to smear conservatives and lecture anyone who uses the insulting term, snowflake.
Blame for the use of the “word weapon” was placed squarely on anti-intellectual conservatives in a piece by CBS contributor Faith Salie on CBS News Sunday Morning.
“‘Snowflake’ became a word-weapon to express a broad kind of anti-intellectualism aimed at campuses and communities where cultural sensitivity is a must,” she said. “Cut to the 2016 election, when ‘Snowflake’ emerges as the knee-jerk conservative gibe to shut down political opponents, especially during debates around tolerance.”
Actually, it was more aimed at those on the left who could not engage in meaningful debate but had a meltdown over any opinion that differed from their own, but Salie must have selectively forgotten about liberal “safe spaces.”
But she was far from done, going on to declare that we are ALL snowflakes.
“Now seems a good time to melt this trend by saying: I’m a snowflake. And so are you. Your children are snowflakes. And so are mine. And those who protest the loudest about not being snowflakes? I can see your six-fold ice crystals from here!” Salie said.
“Snowflakery is simply being human, which makes it a pretty flakey insult,” she continued her lecturing. “Look, a bunch of snowflakes creates a storm — a white blanket that covers things so you can’t get to what’s underneath.”
Though Salie wagged a finger at those on both sides of the aisle, it still seemed like conservatives were the worst offenders of what has led to the “storm.”
“So to those on the right and the left, enough with ‘Snowflake.’ It’s not a cool insult,” she concluded.
“‘You’re fragile and melty!’ ‘No, you’re fragile and melty!’ Is really an iteration of ‘I know you are, but what am I?!’ It’s fitting that an insult largely aimed at youth has made children of those who use it,” she said. “‘Snowflake’ reminds us how much we need climate change – Â in politics.”
Conservative millennial blogger Allie Beth Stuckey blamed the mainstream media for reinforcing the culture that has brought on the snowstorm, citing the flawed education system for creating the safe spaces that coddle students instead of teaching them to engage in productive dialogue.
“A ‘snowflake’ is defined [as] someone who has the inability to engage in productive intellectual dialogue. And that’s what we’re seeing in the mainstream media right now,” Stuckey said  on “Fox & Friends” Monday.
“It’s antithetical to good journalism. But that’s what we’re seeing,” she added, explaining that the media should be providing information and a place for honest debate and discussion.
“How can we expect our young people to be able to engage in dialogue when, for example, our only source for objective information – the media – has become victims and snowflakes themselves?” she asked.
