Classic rocker Neil Young releases ‘resistance’ anthem video in time for July 4th

While President Trump spoke at the Kennedy Center on the defense of our freedoms, aging rocker Neil Young released a music video seeming to implore America to resist the 45th president and his administration. It was a “resistance anthem.” At least that’s how the left-wing publication The Huffington Post characterized it.

The 71-year-old Young produced the music video for the Children of Destiny and placed it on his website in time for the Independence Day Weekend celebrations.

The video contrasts brief scenes of Trump protests against images that Americans usually associate with Independence Day and love of country — Fourth of July parades, display of military power and the beauty of America’s landscape.

“Stand up for what you believe,” the chorus begins. “Resist the powers that be. Preserve the ways of democracy so the children can be free.”

Young produced the song together with the Volume Dealers and Niko Bolas, and was recorded at Hollywood’s Capitol Studios accompanied by a 56-piece orchestra, according to Billboard.

“Should goodness ever lose, and evil steal the day. Should happy sing the blues and peaceful face away — What would you do? What would you say? How would you act on that new day?” Young sings.

Interestingly enough, all of the demonstration scenes depict peaceful protests and not the violence and destruction associated with the AnfiFa movement.

Here’s another fun fact: Young isn’t a U.S. citizen. He was born, raised and remains a Canadian. Chew on that one for a while.

Young also posted the video to his Facebook page along with a video description of what went into its production.

“We made a record we wanted to share with you. We played with a bunch of people,” he said. “total strangers in the same room on a full moon, 65 of us. It was very great We had a great time. Enjoy.”

As expected, pretty much everyone on social media loved the video.

At least one, however, was less than impressed with the effort

And several thought it was even more special that Young released it as a Canadian. Huh?

Some people apparently have no problem with foreigners telling us how to vote and run our own country.
