Judge Andrew Napolitano thinks Democrats accusing President Trump of obstruction need to take a long look in the mirror.
Communication from Loretta Lynch to the former DNC chair could land the former Attorney General in jail if they surface, Napolitano explained on the Fox Business Network.
Lynch “could face 5-10 years” behind bars for obstruction of justice if emails she sent to former DNC chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Shultz are discovered, the Fox News Senior Judicial Analyst said on “Mornings with Maria” Monday.
“It is alleged, this document has not seen the light of day yet, if it exists that there is one or several emails between Debbie Wasserman Shultz and Loretta Lynch concerning the behavior that Loretta Lynch will take to further the DNC interests while Mrs. Lynch was the Attorney General,” Napolitano said.
“That, if it happened, would be misconduct in office,” he added.
Last week, a bipartisan letter was sent to Lynch amid allegations of interference in the federal investigation of Hillary Clinton and her email server. The Senate Judiciary Committee asked Lynch if she had ever had any communications with Wasserman Schultz or her staff about the ongoing investigation.
Napolitano pointed out that Lynch can not only be forced to testify before the committee, she could be facing serious punishment if found guilty of a crime. Whatever the charge would end up being against the former AG, the crime is still a felony.
“It’s very serious. It’s the equivalent of obstruction of justice,” he said, “the same allegations they are making about the president.”
