MSNBC’s Chuck Todd is outraged by a pro-Trump group’s ad questioning James Comey‘s credibility, which has been assailed by both liberals and conservatives during the past year.
The ad, called “Showboat,” aired during Comey’s Congressional testimony on Thursday. It was paid for by the Great America Alliance political action committee and spotlights Comey’s showboating as former FBI director.
“Wow, is James Comey running for something?” Todd said on MTP Daily. “I guess they’re worried about the credibility James Comey has.”
Interestingly, Democrats accused Comey of being a partisan hack over his statements concerning the FBI’s multiple criminal investigations into Hillary Clinton‘s unsecured email server.
Many demanded he be fired. But when Trump did fire him, Democrats reversed course and accused the president of “obstructing justice.”
Comey recently thrust himself back into the spotlight by making ambiguous, flip-floppy statements about interactions he had with President Trump.
Chuck Todd claims the “Showboat” ad is thinly veiled bullying. “This is like a horse’s head in a bed,” he said, referencing the famous scene from “The Godfather.” “It’s like, ‘This is what’s gonna happen to anybody’s reputation that crosses me. We’re gonna destroy you.’”
Meanwhile, the Great America Alliance said it released the commercial on its own, and the White House had nothing to do with it.
It’s ironic that Todd is so concerned about character assassination of James Comey, since he and other liberals viciously slammed the disgraced FBI director last year for criticizing Hillary Clinton’s negligence in handling top-secret government information.
While the liberal media is pushing the narrative that Trump “obstructed justice” by allegedly seeking loyalty from Comey, they ignore the fact that former CIA director Robert Gates told CBS News last month that he felt pressured to be loyal to Barack Obama (see video). Gates was Secretary of Defense under Obama.
Meanwhile, mainstream media blithely continue their nonstop character assassination of President Trump, even if it means publishing fake news that they later have to correct.

Similarly, National Security Agency director Mike Rogers has emphatically denied fake news reports that Trump had pressured him to ease up on investigations into alleged collusion between Russia and the Trump camp.
A bipartisan consensus on Capitol Hill has admitted there is NO EVIDENCE of collusion after a year of exhaustive probes.
