She’s still coming up with excuses for losing her presidential bid, and she has a solution — let the party elites elect the chief executive.
During her appearance at the 2017 BookExpo Thursday. former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton argued that democracy was yet another reason for her loss last November.
She claimed that national elections make it too difficult for presidential candidates — especially women candidates — to get elected. Incidentally, her campaign outspent Trump’s by about two-to-one.
Clinton observed the manner in which other great women achieved national office was by a parliamentary system, in which the nation’s leader only has to run for local office. Then the leaders of the ruling party elect their standard-bearer.
“Our system in our country, is the most difficult, political environment in the world, of any democracy to elect a leader.”
But in a parlimentary system, “you run in a small constituency where people actually know you,” according to Clinton.
This ignores that after eight years as first lady, eight year as a U.S. senator, four years as secretary of state and two presidential campaigns, America pretty much know who she was. And they obviously weren’t impressed.
“And then you are selected by your peers to be their leader,” she continued. “So again, your colleagues who are in your party in a parliament” will see you has someone who can get things done so that you can “move up the scale.”
“In our system, you start from scratch,” she whined.
In other words, things would have worked out if only Sen. Chuck Schumer and Rep. Nancy Pelosi could have decided who would be president.
Apart from throwing out the tried-and-true electoral college system as well as national democracy altogether, there’s one huge problem with her argument. The Republican Party has the majority in both chambers, so under a parliamentary system, she still would have lost.
Could she honestly believe that the GOP would want to see another Clinton in the White House?

The BookExpo where she made her remarks was held at New York City’s Javits Convention Center, where she ducked out after it appeared she’d lost another presidential bid and dropped the mess into the lap of her campaign chairman, John Podesta.
