Infuriating video shows mother & father threatened with JAIL when Delta boots toddler from prepaid seat

A California family was told to give up a purchased seat they bought for their infant son or risk being arrested.

A video uploaded to YouTube allegedly by the father, Brian Schear, shows an altercation that would have had any reasonable person fuming.

Schear was put in a position to defend himself after Delta Airlines demanded he remove his son from a seat on a flight from Hawaii to L.A.

Shear was being pressured to keep the child in his lap for the flight, even though the seat was paid for and he claimed his children had their own seats on the way out to Hawaii.

The crew argued it was protocol for a toddler 2 years and younger to sit in a parent’s lap. But, according to the father’s recent flight history, that wasn’t the case.

“It’s a federal offense,” a woman can heard saying to threaten the Shear. She then says he and his wife will be taken to jail and they will be separated from their children.

Remarkably, Schear maintains his composure and makes a rock solid argument about the contradictions of the flight crews’ demands.

“My kids are going to be what?” he says after the threat. “I bought that seat.”

“You’re saying you’re gonna give that away to someone else when I paid for that seat?

“That’s not right.”

Eventually, the Shear family got up and left the flight when the crew said they were being kicked off.

“You have to give up the seat or you’re going to jail, your wife is going to jail and they’ll take your kids from you,” Schear later recalled the airline staff saying to ABC 7 Los Angeles.

The incident and threats were terrifying the family said.

“As a mother, you have a 1-year-old and a 2-year-old – it doesn’t matter whether that’s true or false. It put fear in me,” Brittany Schear told ABC 7  of the incident that is now going viral.

The Shears maintain the move was due to an overbooked flight, but the accusation has not been confirmed.

Delta released a quick statement while the video is being investigated:

“We’re sorry for what this family experienced. Our team has reached out and will be talking with them to better understand what happened and come to a resolution.”
