Caitlyn Jenner tells Tucker why ‘she’s’ a Republican, but may have buyer’s remorse over Trump

It’s tough being a conservative today, when you can be bullied or beaten up just for admitting you voted for President Trump.

Just ask Caitlyn Jenner. “It was easier to come out as transgender than to come out as a Republican,” Jenner told Fox News host Tucker Carlson.

Caitlyn won the gold medal in the decathlon at the 1976 Montreal Olympics, which catapulted her career as a Hollywood celebrity and sports icon. In June 2015, Caitlyn publicly came out as a transgender woman after decades of secretly cross-dressing, saying she “always felt like a woman.” Jenner is now an advocate for LGBT issues, but still considers herself a conservative Republican.

“You’ve been called courageous, but one of the braver things you’ve done was voting for Trump while living in Malibu,” Tucker joked.

When asked why she didn’t vote for Hillary Clinton given how much she pandered to the LGBT community, Jenner said it’s because she supports limited government and has basically given up on the Democratic party.

“I’m not a one-issue voter,” Jenner, 67, said. “I believe in limited government and in our Constitution. I would rather convince the Republican Party to do a better job when it comes to LGBT issues than to try to convince the Democrats to lower taxes and lower regulations and let our country thrive economically.”

While Jenner voted for Trump, she said the president “kind of disappointed me in the first 100 days” on LGBT issues.

“I’m on the Republican-conservative side, so I wound up voting for him,” Jenner said. “My loyalties do not lie with Donald Trump or the Republican party. My loyalties lie with the LGBT community. What I’m fighting for is my community, and particularly the trans issues that are out there.”

Specifically, Jenner criticized the Trump administration for revoking the Obama administration’s guidelines allowing transgender public-school students to use locker rooms and bathrooms that conform to their “gender identity” (i.e., whatever sex they identify with) — whether or not it’s the sex of their birth.

Actually, what the Trump administration did was to kick that back to the states, saying the bathroom rule is not something the FEDERAL government needs to impose on all states. Trump said each state should decide its own rules. This is actually in line with Caitlyn’s “limited government” credo.

In 2016, candidate Trump said people should be allowed to “use the bathroom they feel is appropriate.” When asked if Caitlyn Jenner would be free to use any bathroom she wanted if she walked into Trump Tower, the billionaire responded: “That is correct.”

Jenner later took him up on his offer, and made a bathroom stop at the Trump Tower in April 2016:
